Christine Nordhagen Inducted to HOF |

Alberta Sports Hall of Fame Inductee: Christine Nordhagen
The Alberta Amateur Wresting Association is proud to announce that Christine Nordhagen was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in Red Deer, Alberta as an athlete. Hailing from Valhalla Centre in North West Alberta, Christine came into wrestling at the age of 20 at the University of Alberta. Quickly taking to the sport, Christine won her first World Medal (a silver) in 1993 in Stavern, Norway. Christine won her first of 6 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1994. In all, Christine amassed 8 World Championship medals, 2 Pan Am Championships and 2 World Cup medals as well as winning a host of other international medals and winning 10 Senior National Championships.

Now living in Calgary, the mother of 3 continues to be an ambassador for Canadian Wrestling as an assistant coach. Christine also has an accomplished career as a motivational speaker. Christine also hosts her own international tournament for Junior-Aged women to help develop women's wrestling around the world. Teams from Austria, Korea, Japan, the United States are among some of the notable countries that have attended the Nordhagen Classic. Christine was the first-ever female inductee to both the FILA and CAWA Halls of fame and is a member of the International Museum of Women.

The Rocky Mountain Wrestling Camp Starts August 1st!

This year's Rocky Mountain Wrestling Camp will be taking from August 1st to 7th in scenic Jasper, Alberta!

The Rocky Mountain Wrestling Camp is the premier camp experience for wrestler of every level. Every year the Rocky Mountain Wrestling Camp sees athletes and coaches from around the country and sometimes from around the world. The camp has seen coaches and instructors who have been Olympic and World Champions. The Rocky Mountain Wreslting Camp is the place to learn new skills and techniques, no matter what level you are wrestling at.
We have had National Team coaches give presentations to athletes and coaches alike. The camp is a great place for coaches to develop new skills. This year we are offering the NCCP certification course for the Introduction to Competition parts A and B. If you are a coach and have 5 or more athetes attending you will qualify for a free stay for yourself during the event.

Please be aware that there is a maximum number of campers that the camp can support, so make sure you sign up soon!
